FC CARY SPOTLIGHT

FC Cary Coach: Gerry Farrell
U09G ASP Leeds United
U10 FC Cary Rec - Rovers

Years coaching/playing:
I have been coaching for 8 years, but have been playing for a very long time, although growing up my sport was Gaelic Football.

Favorite soccer team(s):
I have always been a Leeds United FC supporter, they are currently toiling in the Championship division of the English League...this is the year we go up!!  I also follow Glasgow Celtic in the Scottish Premier League, and whoever plays against Manchester United in the Premiership, it's a Leeds thing!!

Favorite practice drill:
My favorite activity is scrimmaging and my second favorite is a game where you have 4 gates along each side, with one goalkeeper from each team on the outside defending the gates.  A team scores by dribbling through the gate.  The idea is to move the ball quickly to an open player that can score before the goalkeeper can get in position.

Real job:
I head up the Research, Development, and Innovation group for a local biopharmaceutical company....we use bugs to make drugs!

Dream job:
Astronaut

Hobbies/interests (other than soccer):
DIY home improvement projects, hiking, and camping

One thing most people don't know about you:
On occasion, I crewed a Howth 17 in Dublin Bay despite the fact that I cannot swim.
